Oh… The FAA.

3 min read

It has been some time since we have focused on the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). While we have discussed the FAA in the past related to rulemaking and flight delays and challenges with their NOTAM system. See ‘The Pilot Shortage – Getting “Help” From The FAA…’ and ‘More Flight Delays: This time it’s the FAA.’ respectively, we have not done so in some time.

While most of us as professionals and enthusiasts in the aviation industry may not think about the FAA until we are doing something that requires their oversight, investigation, or authorization, we generally don’t think about the FAA that much. However, rest assured, the FAA is in every aspect of aviation. They are always watching to ensure that the rules they have laid out are being followed and to take action when necessary. Therefore, it is up to us to be keen on what the FAA is doing. This not only helps our careers and activities within the aviation industry, but it will generally keep us out of trouble. Since trouble can also be defined as breaking a rule or doing something you’re not supposed to do without knowing that you’re not supposed to do it.

In this digest, we want to take a look at what’s been going on with the FAA lately. It seems there’s quite the development from new delays caused by the FAA, current ongoing investigations of incidents and accidents, and possibly most importantly the confirmation of the new FAA administrator.
